Promptly wipe up any spilled fluid as it is highly toxic. Always wear safety goggles when working on your C230. Removing the coolant reservoir cap on a warm engine could cause the cap to fly off at a high rate of speed and fluid to spray out of the reservoir. These coolants will typically say 50/50 or pre-mixed on the front of the coolant bottle. Some coolants will come premixed-that is, you don't need to add any water.

Mix the coolant with distilled water so that you have a combination of 50% coolant and 50% water.

Be sure to check your owners manual to determine the correct type of fluid to add - for Mercedes-Benzs, it will typically be in a section titled Fluid Capacities in the back of your manual.

The video above shows you where the coolant reservoir in your C230 is located and how to add coolant.

Make sure to check your engine when it is cold for an accurate reading. Engine coolant circulates through your engine to keep it cool in the summer but won't freeze in the winter. So anyways, everything went good, and I plan on making a DIY thread most likely tomorrow.Adding engine coolant (also known as antifreeze) to your 2005 Mercedes-Benz C230 is pretty easy. The service department guys act like they are to special for a quick conversation. Just had to ask him what torx to use on the pump bolts. I was also surprised to actually be allowed to speak with a technician. Mix the coolant with distilled water so that you have. It seemed a little age worn, but should work without any problems. The video above shows you where the coolant reservoir in your C230 is located and how to add coolant. So, I had to reuse all tubing, which seemed fine, and the gasket. When I went into the dealership to pick up the new pump I was disappointed to find out the package doesn't include any new hoses, or the gasket. Having two people for that is a must really. Anyways, putting the belts back on was also a pain as usual. Hate those clamps because regular sized wrench is too small. I would say though the most annoying part would have to be the stupid pressure clamp Mercedes uses on the top left tube. Took three to four hours to complete the job, and that's after already prep'ing the day before.

It was definitely a time consuming job to remove the old pump, and install the new pump. Long day, but the new pump is installed, and everythings back together, except for underbody panels. Checked all local automotive stores, so I'm going to use OEM fluid. Also, couldn't find any Zerex antifreeze. Already sanded most of the rust down, and now masking it off. Will probably complain to ASP about that, but what I'm doing as we speak is prep'ing the pulley for a full high heat enamel coating. Huge crack in the front bumper, and torn out o2 sensor.Īs I mentioned earlier the ASP overdrive pulley was rusted badly due to a very bad coating on the pulley. My 350z is out of action right now too, because of a dead dog in the road. I'm definitely going to get it if it's in-stock, but I need to get this done Thursday so I have a vehicle for work on Friday. I can only assume the thermostat will also be special order. Got it all prepared this afternoon, because the pump is supposed to come in on special order thursday morning. Air box housing removed, underbody panels, belts, overdrive crank pulley, antifreeze drained, etc. Click to expand.Well, that's the problem though.
